Classroom language

The most frequent instruction inside your class:

• Sit down and be quiet: siéntate y estate callado
• Open your book/ notebook: abre tu libro/cuaderno
• Come here: ven aquí
• Write on the blackboard: escribe en el encerado
• Raise your hand: levanta la mano
• Work in pairs/groups: trabaja por parejas/ en grupos

These are the things you mustn´t do:

• Don´t talk: no hables
• Don´t be late: no llegues tarde
• Don´t run in the class: no corras en clase

Dates in English

There are two ways of saying the date in English:

28th May (UK) or May 28th (USA).

Today is the 28th of May 2018.
Be careful if you fill the gaps:
Month/Day/Year or Day/Month/Year.

We always use ordinal numbers for the date:
1st  2nd  3rd  4th  5th  6th  7th  8th  9th  ...

Years are usually divided into two parts:
1998: nineteen ninety-eight
1800: eighteen hundred

Famous bridges

Half Penny Bridge or Ha´penny bridge in Dublin (Ireland): it is a pedestrian bridge ( no cars on it). It was built in 1816 over the river Liffey. It is 43 metres long.
In the past  you had to pay a half penny to cross the river.
