Favourite things about St Patrick´s Day

On March 17th we celebrate St Patrick´s Day. It is celebrated in Ireland and all around the world.
My favourite things about this festival:

• Some of the world´s most iconic landmarks light up in green. For example, the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

• It is almost the end of winter. Spring is coming!You can see daffodils, snowdrops and tulips in most of the gardens.

• There are some beautiful parades in Dublin and New York City.
• In Chicago you can see a river in "green".
• People wear in green all around the world.
• Roast spring lamb is a traditional meal.

• Valentine’s Day is not a public holiday – it is usually celebrated in the evening. 
• The most common thing to do in the evening is to go out for dinner, go to the cinema, or to go out for drinks. 
• It is typical to exchange gifts with loved ones – both friends and partners.

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the USA. It is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.




This is a traditional American dinner.


They eat turkey and lots of other food. 
They say thanks for their families, their  luck, their jobs, their health, etc.

CHINESE NEW YEAR 2017

Chinese New Year 2017 will be on January 28, 2017
It is the most important of the Chinese holidays. It is a time of feasting with the family, celebration, fireworks and gift-giving. It is a 15-day holiday, beginning on the first day of a new moon and ending with the full moon on the day of the Lantern Festival.
In 2017, we will welcome in the Year of the Rooster on 28th January.
Chinatowns in cities like London or New York also celebrate Chinese New Year.

Thanksgiving Day 2016

Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. In the US Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November while in Canada the second Monday of October.

         In Canada we celebrate Easter. Easter means the start of spring.

         Children leave out an empty Easter basket the night before Easter.

         The Easter Bunny comes and fills the Easter basket with coloured eggs and chocolate. The Easter Bunny hides chocolate eggs.

         The children wake up and find the eggs in an Easter Egg hunt.

The most common symbol is the shamrock. It is the leaf of the clover plant. A leprechaun is a little bearded man in the Irish tradition. He is very small. He has the magical power to give you three wishes.

St Valentine´s Day

St Valentine´s Day is celebrated on February the 14th.

In the USA, about 190 million Valentine´s Day cards are sent each year, not including the hundreds of millions of cards school children exchange.
In many countries people spend money in chocolates, parfum, flowers and other gifts.

Groundhog Day

Many Canadians take the time to observe Groundhog Day on February 2 each year, which is also Candlemas. Groundhog Day in Canada focuses on the concept of a groundhog coming out of its home in mid-winter to “predict” if spring is on its way in the northern hemisphere.

It is celebrated on February 2nd every year in Canada and the United States. They want to predict how long winter will last. They need the help of a GROUNDHOG.



The Mayor asks the groundhog if he sees his shadow. If the answer is YES, there will be 6 more weeks of winter. If the answer is NO, there will be only 4 more weeks of winter.

Thanksgiving Day in United States.

Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a day for families and friends to get together for a special meal.The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables.
